Original artwork description:

Inspired by a vintage black and white photo, a bucolic scene of symbiosis between man and animal is represented.
Although the main subject is the mule, and secondly the cart, what the author believes to be the characterizing element of the composition is the play of diagonal lines, in particular the rods that connect the cart to the mule. These diagonals create movement, interest and compositional strength.
Watercolor on rough paper 100% cotton.

"And always in that timeless silence outside, in the world, on the hard roads a slowly rolling cart screeches" (Lalla Romano)
