This still-life was one of a number of studies that I made while painting in a local restaurant for the interest and amusement of the clientele. I had a very limited time in which to complete each work and of necessity I had to paint very quickly and limit the complexity of the subject. I was not entirely happy with the result and it languished in my studio for several months before I decided to work on it again. I added some more plums and worked on the cloth in order to achieve a more satisfying image. I leave it to you to decide if I have managed to do just that.
