A medium-sized oil painting ready to hang in a room that needs a new object of contemplation.

This is a portrait from one of my first series of the kind. At the time I was a student in Katowice, Poland and I decided to create a visual study on the difficulty of discovering the true personality of the other foreign students who came to Poland for a new experience.

The pose and especially the closed eyes stand for a metaphorical bridge in communication. However, the overall atmosphere is calm and tranquil, which can mean that the character is waiting to be discovered.

All my portraits are made in the studio with the characters being seated in front of my easel for a couple of hours. It is a shared creation process, as the person in front of me is expressing a part of his/her story while I am painting.

The sides are not painted.
It will be securely packed with layers of bubble wrap and cardboard for safe delivery.

The work is varnished.
