Original artwork description:

The Norfolk Broads, a quiet but beautiful National Park in East Anglia were formed hundreds of years ago from peat extraction in the area. The park is a labyrinth of large and small 'lakes' connected by meandering rivers supported by drainage dykes and enhanced by derelict wind pumps. We visit the area most years and on this occasion took a wildlife trip on a small boat from Horsey Windpump onto Horsey Mere. This scene shows two Classic Broads Sailing Cruisers with a restored wind pump on the far bank. The boats sit low in the water but are surprisingly spacious inside. We followed the nearest boat almost onto the broad before returning to Horsey. As is often the case on the Broads, the weather can be changeable and the picture illustrates darkening skies as rain threatens.

Materials used:

Windsor & Newton artist quality watercolours; Cobolt Blue, Light Red, Raw Sienna and a touch of Paynes Grey in the reed beds. Painted on Bockingford 200lb paper.
