There doesn’t pass a day in which one doesn’t not take a single breath, for those who do have already left this earthly plane to bigger and better places. For those still wondering through this planet, looking for the life purpose, living out their dreams, creating a universe in which they can be happy, must participate in this passive activity called respiration.
If you think about what breathing actually does, it can be obvious to many that we don’t indulge in enough of it. We might think, and to a point we are correct, that breathing is passive, and we should have anything to do with it, consciously speaking. Unless you just got done sprinting, it’s usually undetectable by us. But the key point here is, when we breathe, we fuel ever single cell of our body with oxygen. Very simple fact that everyone knows. But what exactly is happening when we dive deep into the cellular level?
A reason we got to be so evolved in our bodies, is because the presence of oxygen allows us to maximize our synthesis of energy molecules called ATP. The more ATP we can synthesize, the more movement we are able to achieve, the more neural activity can take place, the more growth can happen. If you have ever read up on prehistoric times, when we had insects the size of a modern day cow due to the high level of oxygen, this is why. They were able to intake higher levels of oxygen in order to achieve a higher level of functioning within their own bodies. The same reason why athletes do blood doping is to have more blood to capture more oxygen to function longer and retain more stamina.
Point being here, oxygen is required for our bodies to function properly being the final acceptor in the electron transport chain within our cells, which releases ATP. If you are to take up breathing more consciously at certain intervals of the day, not only will you be opening yourself up to more energy, higher level of clarity in your thinking, and supplying your cells with the fuel necessary to protect you from illnesses that could destroy your body, you give yourself a chance to alleviate any sort of stress you might be experiencing, allowing yourself a bigger chance to process the information you have at hand, giving you the ability to make better decisions which ultimately leads to a better you.
Through breath, we are able to still our minds, while supercharging our bodies. Build patience and build endurance. Start to notice your breath and you will feel a deeper connection to life happening around you.
