This is the sixth painting in a series I'm working on where I represent runway models as they walk down the catwalk. The paintings of dancers and runway models are all part of an exploration that I call in medias res--in the middle of things. I'm interested in capturing the moment of movement of the human form. Some interesting things I've realized: we can all tell where the figure has been and where it's going; each figure has a certain persona to it. When you look at this work, you can ask yourself, is this an abstract piece or representational? What words would you use to describe the sentiment emanating from the figure? How do the forms, shapes and lines work in conjunction with the figure? How do they form contrast with the figure?
