The necessity to create this collection has appeared in a moment of my life when I had to face again the meaning of the existence. Lately, I have experienced many unfortunate incidents and I felt like my life is flowing away. Having a feeling of standing on the edge of precipice, I’ve jumped to the creation. Working on these diptychs was the constant exercise of meditation and the consequent research of “inner emptiness”. This work symbolizes an energy, born from this “inner emptiness”, that emanates or absorbs the existence/nonexistence of any feeling or idea in everyone.

I paint the diptychs only when I can reach the “inner emptiness” necessary to create energy. During the process of creation, I don’t leave the work until is completed. But this energy is not limitless. The risk to use up all the energy before finishing the work is a constant challenge. From this condition of “inner emptiness” I try to focus to paint a full and pure expression of all my energy.

Understanding of existence/nonexistence of an idea or feeling represented in the paintings, will depend on the ability of reaching a state of “inner emptiness”. This state of “inner emptiness” will create a link between the painter, the work and the observer.

I would suggest to more than analyze these works in a limited artistic conception - to see these paintings as a “medium-objects” able to link the inner and the exterior worlds that exist/not exist in everyone. Moreover, I propose to contemplate them in order to harmonize these worlds.

I believe that the continuous practice of contemplation can work as a meditation or therapy exercise for every observer, and help to understand our inner and exterior world, our sense of existence/nonexistence.
