These roses are from my allotment, the peachy ones are called Lady of Shallott and smell amazing - I photographed them in the Summer and have painted different versions of them a few times. I particularly like working out of black and the way the oranges and greens bounce out of the background. It takes me quite a while to create a painting like this as there is a lot of underpainting and drying (oil paints are slow to dry) which needs to take place before I do the more detailed brushwork on top.
