Artist's description:

This painting was inspired by a day trip to a rocky beach on the west coast of Scotland on a winter's day in January. My daughter became very absorbed in jumping on the rocks and I wanted to capture this feeling of being absorbed in your own world.

I am interested in how people experience and connect with the natural environment, especially city kids like my own. I wonder how important the environment will become in my childrens' lives, and the lives of their children.

The image was painted in acrylic paint with oil paint on top, giving the image an lovely surface texture and sheen. The frame is a dark grey colour (stained wood).

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, oil paint, MDF board, timber support
