Artist's description:

"This watercolour sketch was completed after a visit to the famous Appleby Horse Fair, where I spent an intensive day of sketching and photographing. Bathing the horses in the river is a tradition at the fair, and I was instantly drawn to this small cluster of ponies relaxing in the water, the strong sun light highlighting the hues in their coats. This sketch is less detailed than some of my pieces, and is an exploration of contrasting light and colour.

This sketch is professionally framed behind glass, in a dark distressed gold frame."

Materials used:

Winsor & Newton Artists quality watercolours and graphite. Painted on Langton Prestige 100% cotton watercolour paper. Mounted using off white Arcadia Museum grade conservation mount board, and conservation tape.
