Different Styles

Another variation in the Risque Series. After my last graphite pencil drawing ‘Risque – 22-01-22’ I was searching for something new. I just don’t like to do a lot of work in the same style in succession. Perhaps it is out of fear I will loose the ability of inventing something new all too quickly. Another aspect is that I wanted to see what style might suit her best. Therefor I experimented with some different styles after my session of 30th December 2021. I went from surrealism, impressionism, roundism, cubism and back.

A Bit Surreal

That was when I saw the animals popping up again. Although not very striking I decided to keep them that way. So, even though there is something surrealistic going on I decided to keep the focus on the compositionary challenge. There was this not so aesthetic heating that I skipped. That left me to a big empty space around her basically. Hence a hint of the shelf at the very right.

Solarization

The figure placed off centre is counterbalanced by the foot and is a bit darker than it actually was. The need for shading this up led me to solarize the nude. Naturally that also was the designated spot to put my monogram in so there is even more counterbalance. Anyway, the variation I needed and was missing. Yet again I worked out the laminate flooring in detail. Somehow the perspective progression draws the attention to the upper part of the drawing a bit. Als but not least I fully embrace the straigtness of these floor and wall delineations in this drawing. They serve as a contrast to all things organic, round and furry in the main theme.
