That moment when the sun comes out and hits the tops of the hills. This image is full of optimism for me. Through a period of homesickness, the landscape of West Yorkshire has dominated my mind. This painting was inspired by a visit to Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge, where my husband now works as an Area Ranger. I wanted to emphasise the strong contrast of intense colour and dark shadow, in which I'm sure people who know the area will be familiar with. When the sun bursts out, it can fill your heart with joy.
