Refuge in the Meadow, France is an original acrylic and oil pastel painting on box canvas measuring 46 cm x 38 cm. The inspiration for this painting was taken initially because where I live in the Languedoc Rousillon, I am surrounded by vineyards and often one will see a stone building (not a house) which is used by the viticulteurs to take refuge from the midday sun or to keep their tractors or equipment in the vineyards. However, these stone buildings are located on hiking paths for hikers to take refuge for the night or an amount of time between hikes and are often found all over France and also in the mountains.
The painting is of quite a substantial building which is in the middle of a spring flowering meadow surrounded by trees, grasses and pretty flowers.
The painting continues around the edges, is varnished and ready to hang.
