Original artwork description:

This oil painting is a semi-abstract treatment of one of the artist's favourite themes: reflections of fishing boats, usually old traditional ones, in the water. He used several watercolours made on location as studies for this work.
The artist loves the abstact effect given by the reflections of these coloured mediterranean boats. He started working on this theme a few years ago painting watercolours of boat reflections in Mediterranean harbours, mainly Sète and Sanary because you find there a lot of old fishing boats. Altogether he has painted 12 of them, 4 of which are on sale on Artfinder.
It was painted on a linen canvas in his studio over a period of eight months using the glazing technique. Glazing consists in applying a transparent layer of paint over another thoroughly dried one. In his paintings there are usually between 6 to 14 thin layers of paint, depending on the opacity of the pigment. This process gives a lot of depth and increases luminosity but it's very slow since a fortnight drying is required between each layer. He uses extra fine pigments ensuring long conservation of the work (several centuries for an oil painting !)
This painting is sold with a certificate of authenticity and dispatched carefully packaged in a strong cardboard box and sent with a tracked courier, insured to the value of the artwork.

Materials used:

professional quality extra fine oil paint on linen canvas over a sturdy hardwood stretcher
