Artist's description:

A large landscape worked up from smaller studies made after a Sunday afternoon walk by the River Cèze at Goudargues not far from my studio in the Gard. Goudargues is a favourite spot for holidaymakers in summer but settles back into the easygoing atmosphere of the South of France in the Autumn. The reflections here are spectacular, inside and outside the town, and they have become a favourite subject. I like to make a painting not just a likeness of a place but a vibrant surface evoking the quality and life of the time and place - in this case a warm sunny afternoon in late summer beside slow-moving water.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint
