Original artwork description:

I love to dive. When I cannot dive, I create my special reef. I deep dive in my work and create that feeling of total quietness and tranquility, which only underwater you can have it. I let my imagination and instinct to guide me and I create, layer after layer, that unique sensation of peacefulness.
My painting process involves working with textures, multiple layers of paint and mixed media or raw pigments. Almost all my works have very sophisticated textures, inspired by a real teacher: the powerful, dramatic and serene natural world.

Excerpt from "The Underwater World" by Sian Mein
"Spiral cones called Christmas Trees
decorate a stately coral,
swiftly suck in if I poke them,
timidly peek out again
after I drop deep down a wall,
encountering a broad Elephant Ear,
a clinging colossal mushroom.
Eyes wide, fins gently moving,
I want to stay suspended
in my underwater home.
The sea brings out the fish in me,
or surely,
the anemone. "
