This artwork consists of three oil paintings, each depicting a female head set against a primary color.
There is an enormous abstract painting by Barnett Newman composed of only red, yellow and blue. I like this painting, it's all about color and it was the inspiration for my triptych. These three figurative paintings are also mainly red, yellow and blue: I have used these three primary colors (plus white) for the skin tones and the backgrounds. It’s a very limited palette, but you can make a very colorful set of paintings with them.
These oil paintings are handmade, unique artworks, signed at the back. They are painted on linen, using artist grade oil paints, media and varnish. Each paintings is composed of several overlapping layers that work together to create a three-dimensional effect. You can find more detailed information on my painting method including a few examples of successive paint layers of a painting in the 'Me at work' section of this website.
