Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, the ceramic poppies fill the Tower Of London’s moat and spill from it's walls, in places breaking over the wall like a red wave. The installation marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Each of the 888,246 poppies represents a British or Commonwealth soldier killed during the war.
With each print sold 20% of the profits go to Help For Heroes and The British Legion.
This photograph captures the wave of poppies as it breaks over the wall. The poppies, standing clear in the sunlight, seem to reach out to the people behind the wall, who in turn are soft and ghostly. A young boy jumps, reaching up to try and touch the crest of the wave, but it's out of reach, as are those we lost in World War 1.
