Original artwork description:

Red Thread is an East Asian belief originating from Chinese mythology. It is commonly thought of as an invisible red cord around the little finger (or an ankle) of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation as they are "their true love”. The two beings connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.
In my painting the tread is long, meaning that it doesn’t matter how far away the special person is, it’ll be long enough to unite those who are destined to be together. It starts in red colour and gets converted to purple as it reaches the other part, which is the shadow cast by the figure of the bird meaning that these two are inseparable.
The depicted bird is a Fire-tailed Myzornis. The species is found in China, Bhutan, India, Myanmar and Nepal. The tail of the bird is coloured red as if it was marked by the red thread.
