I am always challenging myself to paint subjects I think are difficult, so last year I started to paint British Wildlife. There isn't much room for 'artistic license' with animals. If you paint a rabbit, it has to look like a rabbit, you can't just miss a bit off because you can't get it right.
So, here is my beautiful Red Squirrel, sitting on a tree stump. It was such a thrill to paint this. I started with the eye and right from the start this little creature had a spirit about him that kept me going. I love too the 'wateryness' of the watercolours in this painting and how they blend on the paper.
So what do you think? Do you love him as much as I do?
This painting comes mounted in a soft white double mount, ready to frame and is cellophaned for protection.
