Artist's description:

Part of the Manta Ray Series started October 2016: a random seascape, when the sun has gone and the Claw Gates and Docks are left reaching to the sunless horizon in yearning for its light and heat. I observed just this sort of behaviour in the seagulls a few weeks ago on Hastings beach as they all stood with their faces and beaks pointing straight at the setting sun and stayed in that orientation long after it was gone, symmetrically aligned and correct, as if soaking up the last bits of heat reflected from the smouldering clouds.
