Artist's description:

This piece is the result of a self-imposed 'one tool challenge'. It was made entirely with a #11 square palette knife. I also restricted myself to vertical and horizontal marks. I began by laying various squares and rectangles over one another on the canvas (see additional photos). The human mind has a tendency to see objects and figures. I ran with this quirk of the mind, I saw a boat, then the figure. Before long, I could see a complete river scene and knew which direction to take it. I continued to add marks until what I had imagined in the randomness, became reality.

Materials used:

Acrylics, #11 square palette knife
