Artist's description:

One of a series of five tree/plant paintings. My botanical pictures grew out of my earlier career as a medievalist. I've always been interested in ancient herbals, books and paintings about plants and the natural world.
This one shows one of my favourite fruits, the quince. The tree's attractive, the fruit plump, downy and fragrant, and they make the most wonderful jelly! If you look closely at this piece you'll find that various parts of the plant can cure all manner of ills including baldness!

Materials used:

mixed media on marouflaged board (fabric on board): plaster, acrylics and pigments with metal leaf

Quince (2013)
