Artist's description:

Quetzalcoatlus is the mythic flying serpent diety of the Aztecs. He is the Aztec god of wind and learning. During the Maya times he was known as Kukulcan.

My mother, having studied Archaeology, often spoke to me of this diety as a child. So I have maintained a fascination with the idea and image. In this painting, I wanted to depict very simple lines, reminiscent of the Inuit prints I am fond of.

This was painted using almost exclusively using plant-based minerals. Indigo, Cochineal, Chestnut to name a few. I am in love with the palette of plant-based colours.
