The story of Quanah Parker has always attracted me. Born to a Cheyenne tribe father and a white mother who had been captured by the Cheyenne's. He grew to be a leader amongst his native people. He eventually became a "Holy Man" and was used as a liaison between the US Calvary and the waring Plains Tribes of the late 1800's. Later after the "Indian Wars" were over he was incarcerated by the US Government and died in captivity. His relatives still exist in Montana and the Southwest. This painting was part of a three painting autobiography of myself. The other two pieces were "Pope Francis" (who represents where I am currently - and the faith that I grew up with and have graduated back to) and "The Dali Lama" (who represents the period of my life when I was searching for meaning to life). Both the Pope and the Dali Lama have sold.
