“How do you begin to describe the concept of light?” Light is an essential element, primarily aimed at defining one’s perception of the surrounding environment. Light can be used to alter the character of an atmosphere. Beginning with the idea that light is critical whether the source is natural or not. Our mental experience of light involves combinations of thought, memory, perception, emotion, will and imagination. Desire to explore the possibilities derived from contemplation through observation ‘profound feelings of disquiet’ viewers experience constantly changing conditions through intensely layered projected color filtered light, penetrating clouds of fog contained within the space, intermittent placed fans create movement of the clouds. With a single loud speaker a violin is playing sounds of a thunderstorm as changing light peaks through from above. My interests are varied and like most people I have a fondness for film, which brought about thoughts of colorization (not good thoughts) but here I felt the gray of the city in the photos I wanted to see vibrant color against that back-drop of the monotone coloration of the structures, using non-permanent paint as an undercoat layered with projected color filtered light. Lighting as it pertains to a feeling of expression for all participants, especially young artists that may see possibilities for their future endeavors. Altered digital photography proposed lighting installation printed on Fuji film Dura flex with frameless floating gallery plexi and cleat mounting.
