Artwork description:

I am often inspired by the universe. Its mystery and its beauty.
Primordial is a painting which combines a nebulous design with thoracic anatomy.

Primordial was specifically inspired by a photograph take by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995 of three giant columns of cold gas bathed in the scorching ultraviolet light from a cluster of young, massive stars in a small region of the Eagle Nebula, or M16, some 6,500-7,000 light years from Earth. These columns are called 'The Pillars of Creation' and are so named, because the gas and dust are in the process of creating new stars, while also being eroded by the light from nearby stars.
