Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

This 2012 peice is about all consuming passion. It can be beautiful and/or it can be ugly ... and it can certainly get emotionally scary because it's intense, exhausting, and overpowering. One wonders if that kind of passion can be sustained, and for how long ... but I venture to guess that it's what we all want whether it's passion for another person or simply passion for life and all it has to offer. Without that we just coast along ... or sink. The cake in the piece represents the idiom "You can't have your cake and eat it too." This refers to the desire to have such passion but to also be or keep in control. This is a passion that makes us feel out of control, hence the conundrum ....
