Artist's description:

The seats are empty, the team has gone home. Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, stands alone on a cold winter morning. At the main gate, the tiger statues snarl at the snow that has accumulated on their heads. A whisper of a familiar voice floats on the wind, as we remember the legendary sports announcer, Ernie Harwell: “That one is loooong gone!”

Detroit Tigers baseball holds a special place in my heart. My father worked at the family business from before dawn, until the stores closed after 11 p.m. Time off for him was rare, but if there was a ballgame on, he always listened to it on the radio. It was these rare moments that I shared with him as we would sit and listen in the summer heat during the early 1960's. Today Tiger baseball is a shared interest for my husband of 40 years and myself.

I took this photograph on the first snowfall in Detroit on November 22, 2015. It is printed on metallic paper to give it a subtle glow.
