Two paintings 'Poppies'. Mixed media: acrylic, texture medium, wheat and garnet 'poppy seeds'. Each painting measures 5 x 10 inches (10 x 10 inches combined if side by side.) Created on box canvas with painted sides ready to hang. Signed by artist inverso. Sent with a Certificate of Authenticity. This artwork is inspired by the beauty of the changing seasons: poppies are in full bloom late spring to early summer. Symbolism and meaning is important to me in my representational art. The poppy is a symbol remembrance and of Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. The poppy is sacred to Greek goddess Demeter, the goddess of motherhood and corn goddess of the first harvest (Lammas.) Poppy symbolism is also associated with the root chakra (Muladhara.) I am inspired by and greatly admire the poppy paintings of Vincent van Gogh, Georgia O'Keeffe and Claude Monet's 'Poppy Field at Argenteuil'. Free shipping within the UK.
