Artwork description:

Whilst living and working in Dorset I spent a lot of time walking the same routes, lanes and ancient Roman pathways that Thomas Hardy walked in the 19th century. Much of the countryside is unchanged; tight rolling hills, giving new views and aspects every few minutes of your walk, with the added delight of glimpses of the sea.

Poll Dorset sheep are a local breed, characterised by sweet-looking faces and very rounded bodies. I wanted to capture something of their sweetness and simplicity in a series of drawings and watercolours.

Materials used:

Watercolour over ink on Arches 300gsm paper, framed in natural wood
