This is a pop art painting of a pineapple, one of my favourite tropical fruits. The pineapple is pictured against a light blue background and separated with bold black outlines.

I've painted only the top of the pineapple and the leaves, but the painting goes around the edge at the bottom, as picture, so it's ready to hang and requires no framing.

I love painting food in a graphic, pop art way. I'm less interested in realism, or in representing healthy or 'fine-dining' food. Instead I prefer to explore the bright colours and nostalgic memories associated with comfort food, fruit, and sweets.

The end result is a bold, bright, and original painting that would brighten up any home, or be the perfect gift for any food lover.

It is painted in acrylics and Posca paint pen on a stretched cotton canvas that's ready to hang.

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.
