This painting maps the route between two significant London landmarks — Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square and the area formally known as Charring Cross. The motif becoming a pictogram of charred cross. The varied green background both reveals palimpsest and supports running complimentary colours. The main arteries are navy incased in pale ochre.
About the series: I live in a vast city and rely on public transit and foot. The effort and time to move from point a to b is an ever present part of my life perspective, therefore some Linescapes are now defining physical boundaries and morphing into cartographic themes – in the 'borderlines series'.
Note: this painting, left unframed, intentionally reveals my artistic process. The random paint build-up and serendipitous drips that coat the sides of the deep edge canvas are meant to be seen.
