Artist's description:

I was pretty shocked when I heard from my friend that the pheasant isn't native to England though we see many of them at daffodil season in every countryside. They were imported from China for aristocrats' hunting game, said he.

This work was produced as one of a series of works for my solo exhibition in collaboration with an English poet Gary Boswell, "'I wandered...' A celebration of the 200th anniversary of the publication of William Wordsworth's 'Daffodil' poem" at Rydal Mount in 2015. On the theme of "daffodils", I kept in mind how to come close to the daily life of the poet. I wonder, then, if the poet saw those beautiful birds perhaps in a field of daffodils? I depicted one of them in a ornamental way inspired by the traditional Japanese painting style.
