Artist's description:

If you've been to Crete in the summer, you'll understand the feeling of baking heat that I was trying to catch here. Phaistos is one of the Minoan palaces, an open, exposed site in the hills with a sense not just of heat but of history. It's one of those places where you can feel the past, feel a unity with the people who lived here thousands of years ago and felt the same heat, the same breeze.
I painted this in the studio, in oils, using palette knives only (mainly because I hate cleaning brushes).

Materials used:

Phaistos, Crete (2014)
