Artist's description:

I was inspired by the paintings of Tamara Lempicka. A friend gave me some postcards, thinking that they were similar to the style I was working in at the time.
I then sketched through from her pictures, each time changing certain aspects to incorporate my own individual style. I created the image in an angular way, emphasising the shadows and by using a limited palette.
I painted her on a circular board and imposed a rectangle on the circle, thus making it highly structured.
There were many layers of paint used to achieve the final blending of colour.

Materials used:

Acrylic, oil.

After Tamara. (2013)
