Pen-Y-Ghent is one of the mountains of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. I made this linocut after a snowy walk up Pen-y-ghent this January. It was a bright sunny day, as you can see in my crazy yellow-green, orange sky! It may be the smallest at only 694m in height, but it's my favourite, with it's scramble on one side and dinosaur profile from the other side.
I love to print in a more painterly way and have inked up this plate all in one go, then run it through my printing press. I find it more expressive using this technique than the traditional reduction linocut or multi-plate method.
Hand printed onto Fabriano 50 fine art paper. Limited edition print of 6, printed in a mix of yellow, orange, dark blue.purple and blue-grey oil-based printing ink. Each print differs slightly, due to the way each of them have been inked up.
