Each spring I get a strong desire to grow from seed, covering the kitchen window sill in seedling trays and small pots. Using this as inspiration, when I undertook a thirty in thirty painting challenge, to paint one painting a day for thirty days, I decided to paint the many seed packets I had from seasons past.
As the series grew, I was inspired by their colours and patterns and the inherent folds and tears from past use. Every day I selected a different packet, maintaining a careful balance of vegetables, flowers and salad varieties, plus an equal number of landscape and portrait formats.
The result was a rich collection of paintings, perfect for the gardening lover.
Each painting is in oils on twice primed smooth watercolour paper, A4 in size, and comes framed with a white wooden frame, with a double matt. NB. the frames use perspex glaze.
