This painting depicts a peacock I observed at a zoo in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2015. The bird was strutting along the edge of a shady area next to a barn-like building, just outside of a patch of bright sunshine. The scene of the peacock -- with its famous mix of colors -- against the backdrop of the contrasting bright red barn wall was very eye-catching to me. The additional compositional elements of the dark, open barn door, the grass, and the bright sunshine on the ground are key to the painting as well. As beautiful as a peacock itself is, in this picture its surroundings combine with it to create the full impact of the painting.
This original painting is sold unframed. Please note: This painting is on frame-stretched canvas, and the edges of the canvas are unfinished. You may wish to frame it. Having unusual dimensions (12x24x.75in), a custom frame would likely be necessary. Photos showing the work in a frame are for example only.
