In this rather delicate drawing I employed an X like composition and wanted to preserve the very first phase of the drawing. The next phase would have involved changing and obscuring many of these delicate lines, and it would've resulted in a very different kind of drawing. Like with many of my paintings I often choose to preserve the initial marks in my drawings too, as I find they have a quality which can rarely be repeated in the later stages of work.
