Artist's description:

This watercolor painting was inspired by the flowers growing in my garden. When these plants bloom they add a very striking and colorful element to the garden. They are so exotic and interesting that I have been panning to paint them for a while. The new batch that bloomed was so profuse I just had to paint them. I also included other plants that grow here in Florida to create a decorative composition. I had the perfect Windsor and Newton 300 pound watercolor paper. It took layers and layers to achieve these vibrant tones. This high quality paper kept the richness and brightness of the paints. I loved working with both the special paper and the paints. The paper is deliberately torn at the edges creating and irregular line. The work can be framed either to show these distinctive edges or they can be covered.

Materials used:

High quality Windsor and Newton 300 pound watercolor paper and professional watercolor paints.

Birds of Paradise #1 (2016)
