From my Floating World series, the Paper Courtesans fuse my love of Japanese Ukiyo-e (“pictures of the floating world”) woodblock prints and my fascination with unusual spaces. They embrace the concept of a fleeting, evanescent world – moments in time, glimpses, feelings, impressions. My images are attempts to fix these fugitive elements on paper; to create images both beautiful and surreal.
