Artist's description:

**Selected to be published in Mascot Media's 'The Elegant Fowl' out in July 2016** along with two of my other OWL Prints: 'The Night Watchman' and 'The Owl and the Snail'

This is the unframed version of this linocut design, the cerulean green edition of which sold out very quickly.

This is a handmade limited edition linoprint from an original design inspired by Edward Lear's poem 'Owl and The Pussycat'. Done in an graphical and illustration style, it captures the naive, fun and childlike quality of this tale of love.

This is a pea-green version of my original print 'Owl and Pussycat' which is now sold out.

'The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat'

I have always been fascinated by this tale of love, evoking a nostalgic image of an old-fashioned romance, while being quirky and whimsical at the same time. A perfect combination! What could be more romantic than dining on mince and dancing by the moon?

"And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon."

This is a one-off original print that I handprinted in my studio at home and a has a delicate finish. I have used green Japanese handmade tissue paper in chine colle, where the block is inked and then then the tissue paper is place on top of it in reverse with the top surface covered in a very thin layer of glue. When the printing paper is then placed on top of this, and carefully hand burnished and pressed, the tissue paper glues to it, with the inked imprint on top of it. The tissue paper has delicate threads in it which adds to the ethereal quality of this finished print and gives additional texture. The tissue paper is delicate and translucent, but strong and acid-free, and I only use handmade glue which will not discolour.

The print in on white paper with a margin for framing. The main image has an asymmetric edge giving it an unique organic look.

The print is in dark violet which contrasts beautifully with the pea green background.

It is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom. The mounted work will fit in any standard 7 x 9 inch frame.

This artwork will be packaged securely in a hard-backed envelope with cellophane/bubble wrap. I have sent artworks all over the world, and I am extremely cautious (some might say too much!!) while wrapping and packaging them for delivery.

For international orders, any custom duties and taxes are not included here and will be the responsibility of the customer.
