Artist's description:

I was browsing through a book on birds when my gaze fell on this owl. It just inspired me immediately in my mind’s eye I began to construct the owl out of my tiniest mussel shells. I quickly made a rough sketch and started to work on the piece. I used crab claws for the beak and smaller leg cuffs. For the background I used black quartz sand which originated from the shoreline along the southern Black Sea coast. All the other materials also come from the Black Sea Coast. The owl came to life when I recreated it out of black mussel shells. For the eyes I chose two round, black pebbles, around the eyes I crushed some orange shells, the same for the legs. For the inside I glued tiny brown spiral snail shells the size of peppercorns.
I work on a hard surface – a hardboard. I use high quality German glue which guarantees the durability. Finally I seal the piece of artwork with yacht lacquer (varnish/sealant). The final step is for me to choose an appropriate frame which will complement the finished artwork.
The owl is a majestic bird. It is the symbol of wisdom, longevity and knowledge. It symbolizes personal growth, encourages the development of knowledge, enhances spiritual development. It can be a perfect gift for people working in an area where mental strength is required. Work such as scholars, students, managers of large organizations and companies who have to make wise decisions on a daily basis.

Materials used:
