Artist's description:

This is a painting based on a story from the Mabinogion (a Welsh book of very old stories). It is from The Dream of Rhonabwy, the bit where Owain's Ravens are abused by King Arthurs pages and then a big fight breaks out when a yellow speckled staff/standard is raised. Owain and Arthur carry on playing chess while all this is happening. For more information you'll just have to read it yourself......if you've got a few days spare.
A rather obscure part of the legend of Arthur but it started my imagination working.
It is painted in acrylic paints onto a linen canvas. It is in a simple blue/black waxed frame with a touch of gilding on the internal bevel.
It is 60cm wide x 80cm high unframed and 74cm x 94cm framed.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint on linen canvas
