Artist's description:

Out of the Desert of the Real
This highly textured abstract painting is achieved through a purely intuitive process. A spontaneous use of materials and tools is employed throughout, directed by feelings and emotions and the need to be creative. Surface features are layered, scraped and scratched giving 3D and textural qualities and a strong sculptural feel to the work. This builds up to give a beautiful and fascinating surface that has a sculptural quality and encourages touch and sensation as well as visual awareness. This serendipitous process finally resolves into a finished piece showing increasing levels of interest on closer observation. Sometimes the edges show the development of the painting which I see as an added interest.

The title of the painting makes an oblique reference to modern philosophy. Recent philosophers such as Barthes, Baudrillard and Derrida etc. comment on the idea of reality (real things) being lost for the sake of virtual reality (the appearance of real things but without meaning). Textures and marks are included that could be seen as symbols and signs. All interesting ideas to play with.

An original one-off painting signed on the back and ready to be hung. Frame not needed.

The images of rooms are computer generated so the scale is only approximate. If you have any questions please get in touch.
