Oscar the elephant - is a monochrome portrait of a beautiful elephant set in the textured background. In many cultures, the imagery of an elephant is associated with luck and prosperity, wisdom, and vitality. By using the monochrome palette I hoped to bring an emphasis on the symbolic properties of an elephant, instead of portraying him in natural colors, which would rather capture his natural beauty.
The sides of the canvas are painted and it's ready to hang. I always use 1.5" thick gallery wrapped cotton canvas for its durability and its 3D effect. The canvas is stretched over high quality pine wood frames and stapled on the back providing a clean finish on the sides.
