I wanted to capture the moment of stillness at the apex of a move. Here the dancer seems almost suspended, the strength and power behind the move hidden.
It is a painting based on an incredible young dancer called Heiley Fairhurst, and one of a series of collaborations together. In all her poses she's wonderfully graceful and commanding, her physical and technical strength absolutely mesmerizing.

The painting itself it framed in a painted wood frame, custom made for this artwork. It is a painted light grey wooden frame.
