Artist's description:

Part of my Origins series on creation myths and the origins of man. It shows a large and a small branching ('philogenetic') tree - used by scientists to represent the hierarchy of organisms in what used to be called the animal and vegetable kingdoms.

The earth, a man, a sun (or is it the moon?), a mystery.

This piece uses paints, inks, pigments, dyes, printing and metal leaf. Although it's painted on my handmade cotton paper, it has two sections overlaid with papers made of other plant fibres. All these affect the colouring of the painting which I hope is particularly rich and subtle.

Materials used:

acrylics, inks, earth pigments, dyes, gold and silver leaf on handmade papers
