Artist's description:

My mom, a high school art teacher, had an excellent relationship with a local museum. She would drop by and borrow five or six pieces of taxidermy and a few months later return the three pieces she'd borrowed. As a result, I inherited an impressive collection of museum quality taxidermy mounts.

One day I walked into my studio and instead of taxidermy I had little piles of sawdust--all that was left after the rats got through with them. Hope those bastards died painfully from the arsenic used to preserve the skins. In any case, I've given up on taxidermy and now stick to skulls (and old books! I have a complete set of the Burton translation of the Arabian Nights in the original, numbered Kamashastra Society printing).

Materials used:

watercolor, pencil

Opossum (Didelphis virginiana) (2016)
